What is the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes?
The mission of the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes is simple – to live, give, and thrive. They believe in leveraging the power of philanthropy to create a great place to allow them to carry out that mission.

Free Clothing Giveaways in Elmira
At His Haven, we know there are so many Elmira children in need of winter wear as the season changes. We have been so blessed to be able to host clothing giveaway events to offer gentle support to the children in our local community.
His Haven’s Kid’s Coat Giveaway
On Friday, October 14, we welcomed our community to our Southside location for our Kid’s Coat Giveaway. We served 28 children and their families by providing gently used or new coats, hats, gloves, and other cold-weather necessities.
It was so heartwarming to see how many people donated winterwear their kids had outgrown. People love to give to those in need, and we provide them with an opportunity to do just that.
We want to thank Penn Ave. Methodist Church for making and serving more than 125 hot meals during our free community dinner, which took place at the same time.
Don’t Miss Our Jammie Drive!
One of the best parts about winter is warm and cozy pajamas! We’re so excited about our Jammie Drive for children ages birth through 18. That’s coming up quickly on December 9, 2022, at His Haven Southside.
If you have new or gently used pajamas that you’d love to bless someone else with, consider donating them to His Haven!

Tips for Families: Ways to Find Free or Inexpensive Kids Clothing
Parents with growing families need all the support they can get. If you have struggled to find free or inexpensive clothes for your children, here are some tips that can help.
Tip #1: Make Use of Hand-Me-Downs
Children grow so fast! The clothes that fit your oldest child last year may not fit them again this year. Pass those items on to your younger children. You may even want to ask your family and friends for hand-me-downs too.
Tip #2: Join a Swap Group
Clothing swap groups can easily be found on Facebook, and they’re a lot of fun too. These groups are great for meeting other families and supporting each other as your children grow.
Tip #3: Shop at Consignment or Thrift Stores
Local thrift and consignment stores like The Salvation Army often have great deals and excellent quality too. Shopping at these stores is a fantastic way to save money and find new-to-your-children clothing for any season.

His Haven in Elmira, NY: Assisting and Encouraging Individuals as They Move Toward a Brighter Future
At His Haven, our goal is to genuinely love, train, and equip people to reach their highest potential by networking or providing them with the necessary tools, favorable opportunities, and optimal conditions. This allows us to support individuals and families as they strive to reach their desired, God-given level of excellence.
Since 2019, His Haven has been honored to have the opportunity to pour love, life, and hope into Elmira and surrounding communities in Elmira, NY. The ministry specifically addresses serious issues, such as poverty, homelessness, individuals impacted by abuse, incarceration, and those coming out of addiction. His Haven is the umbrella organization, but all of our programs fall under His Haven in one of four divisions designed to uniquely meet the needs of all the s individuals and families that come through our doors.
Metro Kids
We love families, and our Metro Kids Program is a great way to spread that love! His Haven regularly schedules events all year long to support families and to give children fun activities to participate in. Children love our special activity days and programs like Under the Tree From Me, which allow them to shop for gifts for their families. We also have our Kids Farmers Market, Summer Drop-In Program, After School Drop-In Program, and so much more!
Senior Smiles
Many older adults in the Elmira area live in care facilities but do not have family members nearby. Others live independently but need emotional support. Our Senior Smiles Program offers that to them, and it includes a healthy dose of fun too.
Adults with Purpose
His Haven’s Adults with Purpose Program includes various services for men and women within our local community. It specifically targets domestic violence victims, people recovering from addiction, single parents, or homeless individuals.
One of our favorite parts of Adults with Purpose is our Priori-Day Programs, which make certain groups of people a priority. For instance, around Mother’s Day, we host Beautiful You Day, which is a day for women to come and enjoy getting pampered. Women can get their hair cut and styled, get manicures and/or pedicures, get new business casual clothing, and more. We also have a Priori-Day for men called Steak and Shave Men’s Day. This event is held the day before Father’s Day, and it is specifically targeted at homeless men and veterans. His Haven also provides supervised visitation services for families with court-ordered supervised visits. We are also members of the Supervised Visitation Network.
Community Kitchen
His Haven Southside partners with the Pine City Methodist Church to offer free food distribution to our local community through our Community Kitchen Program on the first and fourth Friday of the month. Pick-up and dine-in meals are available. At our Woodlawn Court location on the Northside of Elmira, we enjoy having special events and dinners throughout the year.
Find Purpose at His Haven
So many people in our community are struggling, and His Haven is blessed to be a part of the solution for individuals and families in Elmira.
